Terms and Conditions
Last updated 7 October 2026
Every good boardroom runs on clear rules. These are ours. They cover your use of our website, emails and social media, and applying for and taking a seat. If you take a seat, you will also sign a Boardie Agreement. Please read these terms before you use our website or apply, because by doing either, you agree to them.
1About these terms
1.1These terms are an agreement between you and The Boardroom Innovation ("we", "us", "our"), the company behind the Boardroom. Our details are in clause 19.
1.2Part A applies to everyone who uses our website, our emails or our social media accounts. Part B also applies to everyone who applies for or takes a seat in a Sitting.
1.3By using our website, emails or social media accounts, you accept Part A. You accept Part B when you apply for a seat. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use our website or apply for a seat.
1.4Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. It is not part of these terms.
2Words we use
2.1In these terms:
AGM means the closing session of a Sitting.
Boardie means someone whose seat in a Sitting has been confirmed under their Boardie Agreement.
Boardie Agreement means the written agreement between a Boardie and us that sets out the terms of their seat.
Boardroom Innovation means The Boardroom Innovation and every company it owns or controls.
Genba (ገንባ) means the stage after the AGM, for Boardies who are invited.
Sitting means one run of the programme.
ticket means the price of a seat in a Sitting.
2.2"Including" means including without limitation. "In writing" means on paper or by email. "Working day" means a day other than a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday in Kenya. Headings are for convenience only and do not affect meaning.
Part A: Using our website, emails and social media
3Using our services
3.1You may use our website to learn about the Boardroom and to apply for a seat.
3.2Do not use our website, emails or social media accounts unlawfully, try to reach any part of them you are not meant to reach, interfere with how they work, or pretend to be someone else.
3.3You are responsible for anything you send us or share through our website, emails or social media accounts, and you must have the right to share it.
3.4Ideas you send us, such as a business idea in an application or an email, are not treated as confidential. We do not claim ownership of them, but we see many similar ideas and remain free to pursue our own, alone or with others.
4Our content and names
4.1The words, design and images on our website belong to us or to the people who let us use them. You may view, download and share them for your own non commercial use, with credit to the Boardroom. Do not otherwise copy, change, sell or reuse them without our written permission.
4.2"The Boardroom", "The Boardroom Innovation", "Your twenties are capital" and our logo are our names. Do not use them, or anything confusingly similar, to suggest a connection with us without our written permission.
4.3The logos of companies shown on our website belong to those companies.
5Information, advice and titles
5.1We keep our website accurate and up to date, but the details of a Sitting, such as its schedule, faculty and format, can change. The details that bind us are those in your Boardie Agreement.
5.2Nothing on our website, in our emails, in our Journal or on our social media accounts is legal, financial, tax, investment or other professional advice. Reading our content or attending a Sitting does not create a professional relationship with us or with any member of our faculty.
5.3Being a Boardie or taking part in our AGM does not make anyone a director, shareholder, member, officer, employee or agent of any company. Our AGM is not a general meeting under company law.
5.4Our website and its content are provided for information, as they are. We do not promise that our website will always be available or free of errors.
6Other websites
Links to other websites are for convenience only and are not an endorsement. We are not responsible for their content or for how they handle your data.
Part B: Applying for and taking a seat
7Who can apply
7.1You can apply if you will be aged 18 to 22 when the Sitting begins and can pay the ticket.
7.2Before we confirm your seat, we will ask for a copy of an identity document to confirm your age.
7.3Everything you tell us in your application and afterwards must be true and complete. If we find that it was not, and that it affects your eligibility, we may withdraw any offer we have made to you or, if your seat has been confirmed, cancel it by notice in writing. Clauses 10.2 and 10.3 then apply as if you had withdrawn on the date of our notice.
8Applying and choosing a seat
8.1Applying does not reserve a seat.
8.2Choosing a seat on our seating plan is a preference only. A seat is held for you only once it is confirmed under your Boardie Agreement.
8.3We will reply to every application. We may decline an application and need not give reasons, but we will never decline on a ground the law prohibits.
9Offers and your Boardie Agreement
9.1If we offer you a seat, we will send you a Boardie Agreement. It sets out the terms of your seat, including the Sitting, the ticket, how and when to pay, and refunds.
9.2You are free to accept or decline the offer. Before you sign, check the details in your Boardie Agreement. If anything is wrong, tell us and we will correct it.
9.3Your seat is confirmed only when you have signed your Boardie Agreement and paid the ticket in full. Until then, the seat can go to someone else.
9.4The ticket for each Sitting is shown on our website and in your Boardie Agreement.
10Refunds and cancellations
If you withdraw
10.1To withdraw, tell us in writing at boardroominnovation@gmail.com.
10.2If we receive your notice on or before the date fourteen (14) days before the first session of your Sitting (the "refund deadline"), we will refund your ticket less an administration fee of USD 25 (twenty five United States dollars).
10.3If we receive it after the refund deadline, we will not refund your ticket.
If we cancel or change the Sitting
10.4If we cancel a Sitting before it starts, we will refund your ticket in full and will not deduct any administration fee. If we have to stop a Sitting after it has started, we will refund the part of the ticket that covers the sessions not delivered, again without deducting any administration fee. In either case, you can choose to move your seat to the next Sitting instead.
10.5If we move the start date of a Sitting by more than two (2) weeks and you cannot attend on the new dates, you may withdraw within seven (7) days of our notice of the new dates. We will then refund your ticket in full and will not deduct any administration fee.
If you are removed
10.6If you are removed from a Sitting under your Boardie Agreement, no refund is due.
How refunds are paid
10.7We pay refunds within fourteen (14) days of the date they become due. We refund the amount paid, in the currency in which it was paid, by the method used to pay, to whoever paid the ticket. Once we have sent a refund, the time it takes to reach you depends on your bank or payment provider, and any charges they make for receiving it are yours.
10.8The ticket is not refundable except as set out in this clause 10 or where the law requires a refund.
11Photographs and videos
We will only use photographs or videos of you on our website or in our materials if you agree in writing. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
12After the AGM
12.1After the AGM, we may invite some Boardies to Genba (ገንባ). Whether to invite anyone, and whom, is at our sole discretion. We need not give reasons, and our decision is final.
12.2The ticket pays for the training in a Sitting only. It does not buy a place in Genba (ገንባ), a job, shares in any company or any other opportunity. Completing a Sitting does not guarantee an invitation.
12.3Genba (ገንባ) is governed by its own written agreement, which must be signed before it starts. Until then, nothing in these terms or in a Boardie Agreement gives anyone a role, shares or payment.
13Our responsibility to you
13.1We will deliver each Sitting with reasonable care and skill, and to a reasonable standard of quality. If you think we have fallen short, tell us and we will work with you to put it right.
13.2We are not responsible for the outcome of decisions you make in your own ventures.
13.3Except as set out in clause 13.5, we are not responsible for any loss of profit, business or opportunity, or for any loss that was not reasonably foreseeable.
13.4Except as set out in clause 13.5, our total responsibility to you in connection with a Sitting is limited to the ticket paid for it.
13.5Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit or exclude, including any condition or warranty that consumer protection law implies into our agreement with you.
14Your personal data
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why, who we share it with and your rights.
15Changes to these terms
15.1We may update these terms and will show the date at the top.
15.2Changes apply from the date they are posted.
15.3A change to these terms does not change a Boardie Agreement that has already been signed. We will not change the ticket price or the refund terms of a seat you have already paid for to your disadvantage.
16Notices
16.1We will send notices to the email address you gave us. Keep it up to date. You must send notices to boardroominnovation@gmail.com.
16.2A notice by email is received when it arrives in the recipient's inbox. If it arrives after 5pm EAT, or on a day that is not a working day, it is received at 9am on the next working day.
17Complaints and disputes
17.1If you are unhappy with anything, write to us at boardroominnovation@gmail.com. We will acknowledge your complaint within three (3) working days and reply in full within fourteen (14) days.
17.2If we cannot resolve it between us within thirty (30) days of your complaint, either of us may take it to the courts of Kenya that have jurisdiction, including any court for small claims.
17.3Nothing in this clause stops either of us from applying to court at any time for an urgent order, such as an order to protect our names or our confidential information.
17.4These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya, and the courts of Kenya have jurisdiction. If you live outside Kenya, you keep any protection the law where you live gives you that cannot be excluded by agreement.
18General
18.1These terms are the complete and exclusive statement of the agreement between you and us about your use of our website, emails and social media accounts and your application for a seat. For Boardies, these terms and your Boardie Agreement together are the complete and exclusive statement of the agreement between you and us about the Sitting. They replace any earlier agreement, promise or understanding between you and us on those matters, whether written or spoken. Nothing in this clause limits our responsibility for anything we said fraudulently.
18.2Once you sign a Boardie Agreement, it governs your seat and the Sitting. If it conflicts with these terms, your Boardie Agreement governs. Genba (ገንባ) is governed by its own agreement under clause 12.3.
18.3You may not transfer your application, an offer or a seat to anyone else without our written agreement. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to any other company within Boardroom Innovation, or to anyone who takes over the Boardroom, provided your rights under these terms are not reduced.
18.4These terms create rights only for you and for us. We may enforce clause 4 both for ourselves and on behalf of every company within Boardroom Innovation. A parent or anyone else who pays your ticket is entitled to receive any refund under clause 10.7, but has no other rights under these terms.
18.5Clauses 4, 10, 13, 17 and 18, and any other clause which by its nature should continue, continue to apply after you stop using our website, your application ends or your Sitting ends.
18.6If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, it applies with the smallest change needed to make it enforceable, and the rest still applies.
18.7If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
18.8These terms do not take away any right the law gives you that cannot be limited by agreement.
18.9These terms are written in English. If they are translated, the English version governs.
